This is a 2012 Gibson Explorer in excellent condition. OHSC made in Canada included.
All stock components with the exception of the tone capacitor, which I upgraded to a CDE Sprague Orange Drop cap, .022. The original MLCC cap is included.
In 2012 Gibson was raided and had all their illegally poached rosewood confiscated, and some guitars used roasted maple for the fretboard. this is one of those guitars. Slightly brighter tone, and looks really cool.
Grover tuners, and the stock 500t/496r ceramic pickup set.
I've been working on guitars for over ten years, let me walk you through what I did for this legend.
The frets have been polished to a mirror finish, and the fretboard oiled. I resoldered each contact point in the circuit to reflow the connections and improve the grounding. I also replaced the modern wire that was running from the 3 way switch to the control cavity with vintage correct shielded wire (which is what the stock pickups use). It still has the stock 300k Gibson pots for VVT, and the original jack.
The only finish chipping is around the cavity cover, the original owner didn't realize that you have to lift the cover out from the screw hole, using a flat head to pry it out chips the finish. There is a small wear mark on the tip of the headstock, but it didn't go through the finish.
Meet up will be on the west side of TC. Not interested in trades, cash only.
