This is the LR Baggs Align Series Session pedal. The Session is a compression and eq pedal that is tailored to the unique gain and eq structure of acoustic pickup systems. It can help to tame transient spikes, and to make your amplified acoustic sound more natural. Here's a rundown of the controls:
• GAIN: This sets up the input gain. Turn it clockwise while strumming, until the clipping light begins to light up red. This sets the optimal input gain for the compression circuit to work. Turning the knob too high will cause distortion.
• COMP EQ: The compression circuit focuses on three problematic frequency bands for acoustic instruments. Turning this knob clockwise applies compression to tame those trouble frequencies. The more clockwise you turn the knob, the more compression is applied.
• SATURATE: This knob fills in natural acoustic frequencies that can be lacking in pickup systems. Turn the knob clockwise to boost these missing frequencies, making your electrified instrument sound more natural.
• VOLUME: This is the output level of the Session pedal. Once the other knobs are set where you like them, you can adjust this to unity gain with your dry signal. Or you can turn the VOLUME up louder if you're working with a particularly quiet pickup.
This Session pedal is in good cosmetic condition. The electronics work perfectly. The pots, jacks and stomp switch are all clean and quiet. You can power this with a 9-volt battery, a 1Spot or Boss PSA-style ac/dc adapter, or with your standard 9-volt pedalboard power supply.
