A total of ten (10) postcards showing trains from various ages, in various settings.
The four more modern cards are from the Color Chrome postcard era. They depict the following:
1. Rio Grande 5328 Two EMD SD45’s flanking a GP40 at Helper, Utah, April 1969.
2. Rio Grande 481, Narrow guage steam 2-8-2, limestone haul at Monarch, Colorado ,1950’s.
3. Sante Fe 2717, Class EMD GP7, “Yellow Bonnet” Sept 1972. Location not given.
4. Sante Fe Four EMD SD45’s running east near Kingman Arizona, June 1967.
The oldest item is a color-tinted photo card from Durand, Michigan. It shows the depot, mobs of people, three small steam locomotives and various passenger car strings at the crossing. This original card was probably made not long after the station opened in 1903.
A Linen Era card features the Sante Fe Super Chief at Albuquerque, New Mexico and bears a 1952 postmark from that town.
The remaining cards are beautiful scenes from Colorado in which trains are shown as incidental but intriguing features of the unusual landscapes. Two from Royal Gorge, one from Hells Gate, and one from Broadmoor on the Cripple Creek Short Line.
All cards are in excellent condition. With the exception of the Albuquerque card, all are unused.
Price for the ten cards: $25 Pick up in Oscoda, Michigan or pay postage.
