Ninety eight (98) postcards from around the USA, a few foreign. Most of these date to the 1940’s and 1950’s when tourism via the automobile began blossoming in America. The cards show beaches, hotels, and various tourist attractions of the time, such as historic sites, natural wonders like Niagara Falls, lighthouses, Coast Guard stations, Pueblo dwellings, sand dunes, the Wright Brothers Memorial (NC), wildlife, fishing and more.
Condition is mostly excellent. Most of the cards are unused. A good number have messages and canceled stamps. The cards show scenes in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, California, Texas, the Province of Ontario, Virginia, New Jersey. Montana, Colorado, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Arizona and a couple of additional American states.
The oldest card here is dated 1899, from Detroit Photographic Co. (“Moki Indian Woman, Making Pottery”).
