This Bergman game used bat has been in my collection for 30+ years, as I once had game used bats of almost every player of the '84 team. This one is game used from his era with the Tigers, which makes this bat tough to find. You will often see his bats offered from his Giants or Astros days, but once a Tiger bat is in a collection, it rarely leaves. This is a really nice bat with Bergman's original tape, his uniform #14 on both ends, some cleat marks, and some deadwood on the reverse side, which is likely why the bat was taken out of use, as it does not appear to be cracked or "sound" like it is cracked as you typically find. And also the "+" mark indicated that this was one of his first choices. Many times a player would have multiple bats in the rack at any given time, all of which would have his uniform number on the ends. However, the players would often put the "+" sign on any bat that for whatever reason felt extra special so it was easy to spot in the rack. Who knows, maybe Dave homered with this one a couple of times?? Bergman was a HUGE part of the 1984 World Series Champs, contributing in 120 games in that magical season alone, typically at first base platooning with Darrell Evans.
